Bombardier’s second quarter financials continue positive trend
Steady demand for business aircraft has contributed to robust financial results for Bombardier in the second quarter of 2022. On Aug. 4, the company released a strong earnings report, highlighted by significant improvements in aftermarket performance, increased free cash flow projections, and one of business aviation’s highest order backlogs.
Bombardier delivered 28 aircraft in the second quarter. The company’s total revenues for the period were $1.6 billion, including a 22% year-over-year increase in aftermarket revenues. The latter reflects Bombardier’s emphasis on elevating the customer experience through the expansion of its aftermarket service portfolio.
In addition, Bombardier increased its 2022 free cash flow forecast to greater than $515 million from the previous projection of more than $50 million. The company holds a $14.7 billion order backlog, up 37% from the same period last year.
"It’s been a fantastic second quarter for us – strong demand for business jets has carried through and our team has converted opportunities to grow our backlog significantly," said Éric Martel, President and Chief Executive Officer, Bombardier. "Our performance on free cash flow has demonstrated that we have set the right foundation to be cash positive and deliver on our commitments. We have also strengthened our balance sheet to further enhance our resilience and predictability."
