Bombardier’s Singapore Service Centre wins Aviation Week sustainability award

Singapore Service Centre General Manager, Simon Wayne, accepts Aviation Week’s Network 2022 Sustainability Initiative of the Year award

Bombardier is committed to being an industry leader in the journey towards sustainable aviation.

Part of that obligation includes fostering environmentally friendly practices across a growing network of Bombardier Service Centres. That’s why the company is particularly proud to accept Aviation Week Network’s 2022 Sustainability Initiative of the Year award for its newly enhanced Singapore Service Centre.

Presented at the MRO Asia-Pacific Awards ceremony on Sept. 19, the award recognizes the many operational improvements implemented during the recent expansion of Bombardier’s facility at Seletar Aerospace Park. Completed in June, the newly transformed Singapore Service Centre quadruples Bombardier’s footprint in the region, making it the largest OEM business aviation maintenance facility in Asia-Pacific.

Designed with sustainability at its core, the new Singapore Service Centre is LEED Silver certified by the U.S. Green Building Council and has achieved Singapore’s Green Mark Gold certification. The facility includes new rooftop solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations (landside and airside), and the region’s first sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply, provided in partnership with Shell Aviation. Other important green initiatives include the use of building management systems, insulation, LED lighting, low-flow plumbing fixtures and automated water reticulation for improved water conservation and enhanced energy efficiency.

“Working in collaboration with government, suppliers and industry partners, including our own industry association, Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore), we have made tremendous progress in the last 12 months,” said Simon Wayne, general manager of Bombardier’s Singapore Service Centre.

At the awards ceremony, he thanked Singapore’s Economic Development Board and JTC for enabling Bombardier’s sustainable growth in Singapore, as well as the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Changi Airport Group and Boustead, the facility developers.

The sustainably focused expansion of Bombardier’s Singapore Service Centre is evidence of the company’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of business aviation. At the same time, the new facility is a key component of Bombardier’s growing global aftermarket services network and an important presence in the Asia-Pacific market.
