Celebrating the talented female engineers who keep Bombardier thriving
Last week, Bombardier joined thousands of men and women around the world to celebrate a very important day on the calendar: International Women in Engineering Day. This special day commemorates the contributions of female engineers worldwide and highlights this dynamic field as a potential career for young women to aspire to.
At Bombardier, we are blessed to have many talented women among our engineering teams. They are an important part of ensuring we provide an enhanced level of support to our customers and their aircraft. They also help create many exciting new products and services to make sure customers continue to bring their jets home to Bombardier.
However, much more needs to be done to entice young women into this dynamic field. To help bridge the gender gap, Bombardier is actively participating in the Women in Engineering internship program (WIE). WIE is a four-month, paid internship program in Montreal, designed to help female engineering students from Concordia University’s Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science transition to develop a successful career in the industry. Bombardier is the first major organization to participate in this new program. Fifteen (15) interns are participating in the most recent cohort and we hope several will join us as future members of the Bombardier family.
Initiatives like these can help build a solid foundation to help retain and attract future talent – an essential aerospace pipeline that will keep our service and production facilities thriving for years to come.
Congratulations to all the current (and future) female engineers throughout our company who are fueling our success!
Sincerely,
Jean-Christophe Gallagher
