Bombardier’s 2023 Q2 Pre-owned Market Report reveals an emerging buyer’s market

Bombardier’s 10th Pre-owned Market Report highlights an emerging buyer’s market, with pre-owned business jet inventory increasing from historically low levels as marketplace equilibrium is restored.

Aircraft are remaining on the market longer compared to the second quarter of 2022. At the same time, average asking prices for pre-owned Bombardier jets increased by five per cent in June 2023 compared to the same time last year.

Across the 11 models tracked in the report, the number of transactions decreased by an average of 42 per cent in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the second quarter of 2022, while average days on the market increased by four per cent.

Interest in Bombardier’s Certified Pre-owned (CPO) program continues to mount. In May, a pristine Challenger 605 from the CPO program was showcased at EBACE 2023, where reaction was resoundingly positive. Aircraft graduating from the CPO program have received a full suite of enhancements that return them to like-new condition, including freshly refurbished interiors, new exterior paint, avionics upgrades and Ka-band connectivity, along with enrollment in Bombardier’s money-saving Smart Parts Preferred and Smart Link Plus connected aircraft systems. Every CPO jet comes with an exclusive manufacturer one-year warranty*; engine and APU program coverage; and all applicable maintenance completed.

Since debuting in 2021, Bombardier’s CPO program has created a premium class of pre-owned Learjet, Challenger and Global aircraft. Jets from this program typically command a higher resale price while remaining on the market for less time than comparable Bombardier models.

The 10th Pre-owned Market Report also reveals that pre-purchase inspection (PPI) slots are increasingly difficult to obtain. U.S. customers who would like to benefit from the last year of 80 per cent bonus depreciation are encouraged to book their PPI without delay. As an OEM with 11 worldwide service centres, Bombardier has the expertise and bandwidth to support buyers with PPI inspections to facilitate a smooth and efficient transaction.

Whether you are thinking of buying or selling a Bombardier business jet, the 10th Pre-owned Market Report is a critical source of market intelligence, offering the latest key market indicators, value trends and market commentaries. The report summarizes the number of aircraft for sale, the overall fleet size, days on the market, average flight hours flown over the last year, pricing trends and more.
