Sustainable in Singapore: Environmentally respectful design underpins service centre expansion
One year after Bombardier unveiled the significant expansion of its Singapore Service Centre, the award-winning facility at Seletar Aerospace Park remains a shining example of environmentally respectful design.
The 290,000-square-foot Singapore Service Centre—which is now the largest OEM business aviation service facility in the Asia-Pacific region—reflects Bombardier’s steadfast commitment to emphasizing more sustainable business practices.
Simon Wayne, General Manager of the new and improved facility, oversaw a host of exciting initiatives designed to reduce its environmental impact.
“We focused on making improvements that would not only save energy and resources, but also enhance the quality of our indoor environment,” said Wayne. “This translates into better health and well-being for our customers and our employees.”
The expansion includes sustainable design initiatives such as rooftop solar panels and carpark shelters to reduce energy consumption—together, these account for 15 per cent of the site’s annual electricity demand.
“We also installed conservation-minded building management systems, insulation, LED lighting, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and automated water reticulation to further reduce our environmental footprint,” added Wayne.
In conjunction with partner Shell Aviation, the facility is stocking sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This provides operators with a more environmentally-friendly fuel option while building on Bombardier’s commitment to make SAF available throughout its global network of service facilities.
Bombardier’s new and improved Singapore Service Centre is expected to support more than 2,000 customer visits each year.
The facility attained LEED Silver certification as well as Singapore’s Green Mark Gold, and was recognized with Aviation Week Network’s 2022 Sustainability Initiative of the Year award.
Bombardier customers are invited to stop in and say hello to Simon Wayne and his team at the newly enhanced Singapore Service Centre.
