Video profile: making magic deep in the heart of Texas
Bombardier recently celebrated one of its latest achievements for the industry-leading Global 7500 aircraft – the 100th wing manufacture for this impressive business jet.
It marked a significant achievement for the Bombardier facility in Red Oak, where the Smooth Flex Wing is built, showcasing the commitment to design excellence, craftmanship, creativity and ingenuity that the 600-plus employees demonstrate daily.
“This achievement shines the light on the outstanding team we have here at this facility,” notes Red Oak General Manager Tony Curry. “Our commitment to manufacturing excellence is reflected in everything we produce here – this is crucial to our day-to-day operations. The manufacture and design of the Smooth Flex Wing contributes to the aircraft’s outstanding performance, short-field abilities and exceptionally smooth ride, delivering the ultimate flying experience in business aviation today.”
Bombardier’s Red Oak site is also home to one of the company's most successful apprenticeship programs. Working in concert with Texas State Technical College (TSTC), the Bombardier Aviation Apprenticeship Program (BAAP) is a shining jewel in ensuring future program development. This initiative is designed to develop local talent, drive regional aerospace growth and create a future talent pipeline to successfully support the manufacture of the Global 7500 aircraft wing.
“It’s such a critical part of what Bombardier does and it’s definitely something to celebrate. I’m so proud to be guiding the manufacture of this very special wing – and working with such talented and highly skilled people along the way,” Curry added.
