Bombardier would like to inform operators about maintenance and application of the proper torque values when replacing a brake control valve (BCV). Failure to do so may result in unwanted leaks as well as avoidable AOG events. There have been reported cases where BCVs were replaced and the B-nut / hydraulic fittings on the valve were improperly torqued resulting in an AOG maintenance and missed flights. It is suspected that during the torqueing procedure of the BCV hydraulic line Bnut, the “crow foot “ adaptor at the end of the torque wrench had interference with the other Bnut resulting in an inaccurate torque value. The location and accessibility of the BCVs in the wheel well is challenging therefore extra care must be taken when having to replace them. The AMM task 32-43-09-400-801 provides the references to the required torque values and particular attention must be paid to the notes in the applicable AMM task.
