Garmin G5000 unapproved SD Devices
Effectivity: Learjet 70, Learjet 75
ATA 34
Garmin has been made aware of the use of non-approved SD cards or other WiFi devices being placed in the card slots of the G5000 display units.
Garmin wishes to inform all owners and operators that any device not approved by Garmin and Bombardier that is placed in the display unit’s SD card slots may potentially cause a malfunction or damage the display unit. Any damage caused by unapproved devices may not be covered by either Garmin or Bombardier warranty.
Additionally, any unapproved device installed in the SD card slots voids the airworthiness approval of the G5000 system as this may not only negatively affect the display, but also the operating system of the avionics suite.
Please use only Learjet approved SD cards and devices in the SD card slots to prevent any possible undesirable results from using unapproved cards and devices. The approved SD cards and devices are shown in your aircrafts’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), such as the Aircraft Maintenance Manual or Supplemental Type Certificate ICA.
