Global Vision Flight Deck (GVFD) Cursor Control Panels (CCP) – Trackball cleaning procedure

Given the placement and frequent use of the CCP (Figure 1), it is not unusual for the trackball to require cleaning. Erratic cursor movements observed on the displays are signs that the trackball may require cleaning. Before declaring a CCP as defective and simply replacing it, first consider that dust and grime may be the cause of a sticky cursor.

The following Aircraft Maintenance Manual/ Publication tasks (AMM/AMP) are used to perform this cleaning:

In the event of the loss of trackball control a pilot can use the on-side MKP-6000 arrow keys to control the cursor (Figure 2). Refer to the applicable Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL) and Dispatch Deviation Guide (DDG) for more details.
