Install rudder-neutral position alignment rivets to facilitate Global 7500 rudder rigging
ATA: 27 – Rudder rigging
Effectivity: Global 7500 aircraft

The rudder power control unit (PCU), or rudder surface removal and installation tasks from the aircraft maintenance publication (AMP), currently require performing the rudder rigging.
The rudder surface electrical rigging task requires manual centering of the flight control surface. In-service aircraft configuration (prior to 70114) requires the use of Bombardier SGSE and the AMP task, or a telemetry specialist to laser shoot the tail and rudder surface to locate the specific rudder mechanical neutral position for the maintenance tasks.
A Bombardier optional Service Bulletin SB700-27-7507, “Installation of Rudder-Neutral Position Alignment Rivets for Rigging,” is available to install two dome head rivets on the upper tail cone skin as a reference point to visually align the rudder surface to neutral. The position of the reference rivets is specific to each aircraft and will require an initial laser shoot to locate the rudder surface to the mechanical neutral position to determine the exact positioning of the rivets.
This service bulletin should be incorporated at the next maintenance event that involves rudder rigging or centering laser shoot. The rivets will then be an easier and quicker reference to center the rudder for future AMP maintenance rigging tasks.
From aircraft 70115 and subsequent, the reference rivets will be installed in production and will not require a laser shoot for rudder rigging.
