On the Global Express/XRS/5XXX/6XXX aircraft, when the Multi-Functional Spoiler Power Control Unit (MFS PCU) is removed per the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), a full rigging is required. This necessitates the defueling and jacking of the aircraft.

This requirement originated from a production engineering document. The jacking and defueling requirements are very unpractical for operators, increasing aircraft downtime and direct maintenance costs.

We have since reviewed these requirements with engineering and identified a suitable alternative.  RIL #GX-0676 has been released and provides alternate procedures without the need to jack or defuel the aircraft. There are certain limitations: the aircraft cannot be moved during the removal/installation process, and very specific measurements must be taken prior to removing the MFS PCU.

You can find RIL #GX-0676 on the Bombardier Customer Portal under engineering documents. We expect the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) tasks to be revised in 2024 to reflect the technical content of RIL # GX-0676.
