Operators who often close Challenger 300/350/3500 baggage doors from the inside may experience minor damage to the handle housing, which is caused by the locking cam.

When latching the door from the inside, users are unable to view the housing when latching from the inside, the locking tab can contact the housing as the handle has free play per design.

A generic repair (REO) R1005231034 was recently released to address the damage caused by the locking cam. This REO provides guidance on acceptable limits, inspection and restoring finish.

This GREO can also be done in conjunction with a recently released In Service Modification Summary (ISMS) IS100-25-5013 Rev A Baggage Door Lock cam trim. This ISMS provides instructions to reduce the cam length to prevent it from hitting the housing upon latching.

Both the generic repair and the ISMS are applicable to all Challenger 300/350/3500 aircraft and are available in the Bombardier Customer Portal in the library section, under Engineering Documents.
