Due to the increased popularity of towbarless towing, Bombardier would like to remind operators and maintenance personnel about the importance of properly positioning the strut strap on the nose landing gear when using a towbarless towing tug.

As stated in the Aircraft Maintenance Manual towbarless towing task (ATA 09-10-00), the strut strap should be positioned around the chromed section (piston) of the nose landing gear.

TOWING STRAP INSTALLATION PLACARD

Failure to comply with the Aircraft Maintenance Manual instructions when positioning the strut strap on the nose landing gear could result in damage to the piston, cylinder and/or adjacent components.

Operators and maintenance personnel should be aware of this potential condition and refer to the applicable instructions available in the Aircraft Maintenance Manual, ATA 09, when towing the aircraft with a towbarless tug. The Aircraft Maintenance Manual can be found on the password protected Bombardier Customer Portal under the Library – Technical Publications section.
