Bombardier has released new service bulletins that are meant to minimize oscillations during the final approach segment of LPV and LNAV/VNAV approaches on specific Learjet series aircraft operating with dual UNS-1Ew FMS units.

Service bulletins 40-34-27 and 45-34-40 have a recommended time of compliance of 900 flight hours or

36 months, whichever comes first. These bulletins contain instructions to remove the UNS-1Ew FMS units

and to send them to Universal Avionics for software upgrade. FMS units may be exchanged or replaced for an additional cost to meet aircraft schedules. The bulletins have configuration and return-to-service instructions once the upgraded units have been installed.

For all aircraft, AFMS-W1654, Universal Avionics Operator’s Manual, Report No. 2423 sv1002/1102, and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) M100520-ICA-003, Dual UNS-1Ew FMS (SCN 1002.3) are required after installation of software 1002.3.

These bulletins are controlled effectivity, to add your serial number to these bulletins refer to RIL 40-34-27 or RIL 45-34-40 to add your aircraft to the effectivity list.

Please contact your BAS Regional Sales Manager for more information or to schedule your aircraft for service if you intend to upgrade the UNS-1Ew FMS units currently installed in the aircraft. If the aircraft units are to be replaced, contact the In-Service Implementation Team (ISIT) at BACS_ISIT@aero.bombardier.com.
