Wheels inspection interval

Effectivity: Global 7500, Challenger 6XX aircraft

ATA: 32

Bombardier would like to remind operators and maintenance personnel that all exchange wheels and wheel/tire assemblies provided by Bombardier are fully overhauled. They are systematically stripped, subjected to non-destructive testing (NDT), primered and repainted.

To follow the recommended inspection schedule from the Bombardier Time Limits / Maintenance Checks (TLMC) and Meggitt’s service letter GS-SL-36, the maintenance history must be known. Since Bombardier is not aware of the maintenance history of the returned wheels, they are all considered due for maintenance, per the Meggitt service letter.

There is no impact for customers who exchange their wheels through the Bombardier repair and overhaul network, because the replacement wheel will always be overhauled.

For customers who choose to keep an exchanged wheel and perform their own future tire changes, Bombardier and Meggitt recommend that a more frequent inspection interval should be implemented until the service history is established.

Please note that the guidelines given in the service letter are intended to help operators make their own overhaul and inspection schedule. It is recommended that operators with established inspection and overhaul schedules continue to use them.

We invite customers to pass by and take advantage of our new wheel and tire shop located in the Bombardier London Biggin Hill Service Centre.
