Bombardier would like to inform operators of a recent change to the PPG windshield rain (water) repellent coating. PPG (Sierracin/Sylmar Corp) has made a minor change in the formulation to remove environmentally persistent fluorinated organic compounds because of increased environmental concerns.
Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) 56-10-01 addresses the re-application of the rain repellent coating. Kit part numbers DSS1040, DSS1015 and DSS1027 are now obsolete and have been replaced by DSS4040, DSS4015 and DSS4027 respectively.
DSS4040 is the master kit that includes materials for six (6) windshields and the DSS4042 instruction manual
DSS4015 is the kit for a single windshield
DSS4027 is a refill kit for DSS4040 master kit
AMMs were revised on Oct. 30, 2023 to include the new kit numbers. Kits are available by contacting Spare Part Sales.
