Bombardier would like to inform operators of a recent change to the PPG windshield rain (water) repellent coating. PPG (Sierracin/Sylmar Corp) has made a minor change in the formulation to remove environmentally persistent fluorinated organic compounds because of increased environmental concerns.

Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) 56-10-01 addresses the re-application of the rain repellent coating. Kit part numbers DSS1040, DSS1015 and DSS1027 are now obsolete and have been replaced by DSS4040, DSS4015 and DSS4027 respectively.

  • DSS4040 is the master kit that includes materials for six (6) windshields and the DSS4042 instruction manual

  • DSS4015 is the kit for a single windshield

  • DSS4027 is a refill kit for DSS4040 master kit

AMMs were revised on Oct. 30, 2023 to include the new kit numbers. Kits are available by contacting Spare Part Sales.
