Bombardier apprenticeship programs continue to grow
Bombardier recently introduced a comprehensive new apprenticeship program in Singapore as an essential talent pipeline to help fuel the growth of its Singapore Service Centre.
Working in conjunction with Temasek Polytechnic, the 45-month Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer training program will give selected trainees an opportunity to earn their CAAS SAR-66 Category B1.1 license to qualify as certified Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.
The program is grouped into two parts. Trainees receive comprehensive theoretical classroom training for a year-and-a-half at Temasek Polytechnic followed by two (2) years of on-the-job training at the Bombardier Service Centre in Singapore. A wide array of learning opportunities will be covered, including detailed hands-on mechanical engineering work on Bombardier aircraft. There are currently two cohorts of eight (8) apprentices in the program – one graduating in 2022 and another in 2023.
The Singapore Apprenticeship Program is not the only Bombardier aftermarket training program making news. At the Biggin Hill Service Centre in London, Bombardier has partnered with Marshall Centre to develop and deliver its Level 3, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Apprenticeship program.
This new cohort of Bombardier Level 3 apprentices will complete their first year at Marshall’s workshop in Cambridge before returning to the aircraft manufacturer’s Biggin Hill site, where they will be given day release to continue with their studies.
Marshall Centre will also provide continuous on-site learning and assessment at the Biggin Hill Service Centre along with dedicated support to the wider Bombardier team. This will enable the apprentices to develop and grow their unique skillsets. Bombardier and Marshall Centre plan to onboard up to 20 new apprentices in 2022.
