Bombardier delivers launch customer’s Challenger 3500 aircraft
Bombardier celebrated a big milestone in the Challenger 3500 program on Sept. 20, as the aircraft destined for launch customer Les Goldberg, Chairman and CEO of Entertainment Technology Partners in Orlando, Fla., entered into service.
One year after the newest member of the Challenger family was announced, this milestone aircraft is now flying and will be presented to its proud owner later this year.
The cutting-edge Challenger 3500 features a number of significant innovations, including the industry’s first voice-controlled cabin to manage lighting, temperature and entertainment systems. Designed with comfort and sustainability top of mind, the cabin borrows many features from Bombardier’s luxurious Global family, including the exclusive, award-winning Nuage seat.
The jet’s dramatically lower cabin-pressure altitude enables passengers to arrive at their destination refreshed and relaxed. Along the way, they can take advantage of productivity-enhancing “firsts,” including wireless chargers throughout the cabin and the only 24-inch, 4K display in the super mid-size class. The cockpit offers a standard auto throttle system and the industry’s most extensive suite of baseline features.
Bombardier’s commitment to environmental responsibility is readily apparent in the Challenger 3500. It is the first business jet in its class to offer an Environmental Product Declaration, which documents the aircraft’s environmental footprint over its lifecycle. Further, the cabin incorporates a range of high-end, greener choices that include up-cycled fabrics, alternative woods, and fibre-based materials. Pilots can take advantage of a new eco app – a first in business aviation – that will help them optimize fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.
As a former Challenger 350 owner and long-time Bombardier customer, Goldberg said he is looking forward to beginning the next chapter in the Challenger family.
“I can say with confidence that Bombardier has hit all the right notes in creating a next-generation aircraft,” said the program’s launch customer. “The cabin interior is spectacular, and I appreciate the added comfort and productivity that these new features will bring to our worldwide travels.”
Since it was launched in September 2021, the Challenger 3500 program has received several accolades, including the sought-after Red Dot: Best of the Best award for design and innovation excellence.
“Our Challenger 3500 business jet is clearly the right aircraft for today,” said Éric Martel, President and CEO, Bombardier. “Customers are impressed by the aircraft's elevated experience, from the comfort and sustainability of its cabin to cost efficiency to reliability.”
Bombardier’s Challenger family is the platform of choice for corporate flight departments and charter operators worldwide. Members of the business aviation community are invited to visit the new Challenger 3500, on static display at NBAA 2022 in Orlando, Oct. 18-20.
