Bombardier prepares to welcome apprentices at Melbourne Service Centre

Bombardier is proud to announce the launch of a new four-year apprenticeship program at its new Melbourne Service Centre in Australia. Designed to ensure a pipeline of future maintenance engineers, the program will welcome its first cohort of students in mid-April.

Under the guidance of national employer organization Australian Industry Group (Ai Group), students will earn a Diploma of Aeroskills – with a mechanical or avionics specialization – by the end of the four-year program.

The apprenticeship initiative is further evidence of Bombardier’s commitment to the Australian market. In September 2022, the company opened a brand-new service centre at Essendon Fields Airport. The facility is a key building block in Bombardier’s growing aftermarket services footprint in the Asia-Pacific region.

At full capacity, the service centre will bring 65 aerospace jobs to Melbourne, including more than 48 highly skilled technicians, while boosting Bombardier’s footprint in the region by some 50,000 square feet.

Bombardier is proud to help develop Australia’s next generation of aerospace maintenance specialists. The new apprenticeship program will provide a springboard for long and rewarding industry careers under the guidance of industry’s leading business aviation manufacturer.
