Does your flight planning and performance planning software run on Bombardier data?

A growing number of third parties are offering products and services for owners, operators, DOMs and pilots of Bombardier aircraft. To function accurately and safely, many of these products and services are dependent on up-to-date Bombardier intellectual property and technical information.

At a recent meeting of the Global Owners Advisory Committee, Bombardier announced a new initiative to publicize the names of “Authorized Data Licensees”  – third parties that are permitted to use Bombardier intellectual property and technical information in their products and services.

For example, flight planning and flight performance apps rely on Chapter 6 performance data tables from aircraft flight manuals (AFM) to operate. Do you know if your flight planning or flight performance app is licensed to use performance data tables from Bombardier aircraft flight manuals?

Operators can now check Bombardier’s Customer Portal to see if their preferred flight planning or flight performance company is an Authorized Data Licensee. Enjoy peace of mind knowing that the performance data critical for your flight planning or flight performance app is sourced directly from the OEM, where it is maintained and updated in sync with technical publications.

Bombardier has also created downloadable Letters of Authorization confirming the high-level details of commercial licences with Authorized Data Licensees. These can be stored on local devices or manually uploaded to the Bombardier Flight Deck (BFD), if an operator prefers to do so. A reference to the Authorized Data Licensee initiative has also been included in the Flight Crew Operating Manual (FCOM).

It is important to note that the Authorized Data Licensee initiative is not a certification program. The Authorized Data Licensee initiative does not validate, engage in quality control, or formally endorse any third-party product or service. It identifies and simplifies reference to those third-party providers that have authorized access to current Bombardier intellectual property and technical information.
