Challenger 3500 to offer Iridium Certus connectivity as baseline feature

Bombardier has announced that its Challenger 3500 super mid-size business jet will be the first in the industry to offer Iridium Certus connectivity as a baseline feature. Presented in collaboration with Collins Aerospace, this new equipment will enhance passengers’ onboard experience with highly reliable connectivity, lower latency, and pole-to-pole coverage.

Offering a top connection speed of 704 Kbps, Iridium Certus’s constellation of more than 66 cross-linked satellites delivers a faster, truly global network enabling optimum efficiency and a seamless in-flight experience. Owners and operators will also benefit from the equipment’s lower weight and smaller antenna footprint compared to legacy satellite communications equipment.

The addition of Iridium Certus service as a standard feature on the Challenger 3500 takes an already stellar passenger experience to new heights. Along with an extra luxurious interior and lower cabin pressure altitude, the newest Challenger is also the first super mid-size jet to offer an Environmental Product Declaration, which documents the aircraft’s environmental footprint over its lifecycle.

Iridium Certus will also be offered as a retrofit option for existing Challenger 300 and Challenger 350 aircraft at all Bombardier Authorized Service Centres and at Bombardier’s Authorized Service Facilities.

Bombardier’s Challenger family has been the best-selling super-midsize platform for the past eight years and is the aircraft of choice among corporate flight departments and charter operators worldwide.
