Enhancing Aircraft on Ground (AOG) capabilities using Artifical Intelligence

Bombardier is once again joining forces with Scale AI ¬on a new research and development project using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to investigate effective ways to enhance its Aircraft on Ground (AOG) capabilities.

Scale AI is a consortium of private entities, research centres, and academia providing guidance to Canadian firms to promote the use of AI in industry.

In this project, Bombardier will work with Scale AI – and partners Globvision and Ivado Labs – to take a more proactive approach to maintenance, limit aircraft downtime and reduce AOG costs for Bombardier aircraft, as well as provide unique state-of-the-art maintenance support to its customers.

“As part of its digital transformation, Bombardier is seeking to improve its supply chain and aircraft support activities by developing predictive analytics,” noted Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice President, Services and Support, and Corporate Strategy, Bombardier. The predictions, which will be powered by advanced AI algorithms, are expected to reduce maintenance costs and aircraft downtime, as well as considerably improve the overall customer experience.”

This is the second project Bombardier is working on with the Scale AI team. Through its initial project, Bombardier partnered with Montreal-based aircraft maintenance tracking software firm TRAXXALL to ensure essential customer parts purchasing and maintenance data is used to build the most accurate algorithms. Utilizing this data, Bombardier will build more robust AI-generated algorithms to effectively predict parts demand and availability.
