OEM expertise is critical for accelerating Challenger 300 midlife inspection downtimes
The team at Bombardier’s London Biggin Hill Service Centre is leveraging OEM know-how to complete the first Challenger 300 aircraft 7500 Landing inspection performed outside the U.S. This is a significant midlife airframe check that essentially takes the aircraft back to its bare bones.
During this process, Bombardier maintenance technicians will remove and inspect the structure of major airframe components, including engines, parts of the tail, flight controls and landing gear. The interior of the aircraft is completely removed to expose aircraft parts and access panels.
The London Biggin Hill Service Centre is ideally suited for such detailed work, its factory-trained technicians excel in world-class facilities designed for heavy checks.
Customers can rely on 24 hour of services, available 7 days a week, and have access to technicians that are only a few feet away. This home-like availability accelerates inspection related downtimes and ensures regular updates from the customer project management team.
“The expertise that we can bring to this inspection is that we’re part of a massive global network; being the OEM, we also know the real history of this aircraft,” said Paul Thompson, Senior Director of International Service Centres. “Not only are our technicians specially trained in Bombardier products; we can also leverage experience from the U.S. market, our design teams, and our in-service engineering teams.”
The London Biggin Hill facility – which was expanded to double its size in 2022 – is a world-class service centre offering a fully stocked parts shop and non-destructive testing (NDT) capabilities. In addition, the site leverages OEM expertise that is only available at Bombardier.
