Resources available for 5G rollout

You may have seen news coverage regarding the significant aviation safety concerns around the upcoming deployment of 5G cellular networks. Specifically, the focus has been on the potential for the networks' signals to interfere with critical aviation systems, including radar altimetry.

Bombardier, NBAA, and other aviation groups have welcomed a delay for the planned Jan. 5 rollout of 5G until Jan. 19. As NBAA said in a statement, the aviation groups made use of the short reprieve to get answers to key questions and share much-needed information with business jet operators.

As part of that effort, NBAA introduced a new 5G-rollout resource / nbaa.org/5G to provide real-time answers to questions, publish information as it becomes available and more. This resource from the FAA also provides well-structured information to operators.

Bombardier has published the following Advisory Wire to help Bombardier business jet operators with this transition.

The following documents (AW & FON) will be available shortly in the Library on the Customer Portal, they are mainly addressing the potential concerns from the Flight Crew perspective.

• FON AVNC-038 - 5G - Risk of Potential Adverse Effects on Radio Altimeter

• AW600-34-2627 Potential Adverse Effects on Radio Altimeters when Operating in the Presence of 5G C-Band Interference

• AW300-34-0392 Potential Adverse Effects on Radio Altimeters when Operating in the Presence of 5G C-Band Interference
