New solar panels power on at London Biggin Hill Service Centre

The lighting is now greener at Bombardier’s newly-expanded London Biggin Hill Service Centre

The switch has been flipped on the facility’s new rooftop solar panel installation, incorporating more than 3,000 panels that will reduce the building’s energy footprint by 38 per cent.

Renewable energy company Zestec installed the solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, which will generate more than 1.135 million kWh annually, lowering carbon emissions by up to 255 tonnes in the first year.

The addition of the solar panels at the London Biggin Hill Service Centre is just the latest example of Bombardier’s ongoing commitment to operating through a sustainable lens. Other achievements include the LEED Silver certified Singapore Service Centre, covering the totality of company flight operations with sustainable aviation fuel, and providing the industry’s only Environmental Product Declarations for in-service aircraft. Overall, Bombardier aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 25 per cent by 2025, relative to 2019 levels.

Bombardier’s London Biggin Hill Service Centre is the largest business jet MRO in the U.K., offering complete tip-to-tail heavy maintenance services for Bombardier Learjet, Challenger and Global aircraft.
