By Yannick Aspeck - Technical Services, Widebody Aircraft
We wish to provide Global aircraft operators with additional guidance on using the Combi Oven in microwave mode while it is empty.
The following Combi Oven part numbers are found on the Global 6500 and Global 7500 aircraft:
G02530001-001-0161
G02530002-001-0161
G02530001-001-0162
G02530002-001-0162
The following precautions must be followed to ensure the safety of all passengers and continued reliability of the unit:
The Combi Oven, when operating in microwave mode, is not designed to be operated while empty. Please refer to the “WARNING” mention in the user manuals.
If there are signs of damage inside the oven, especially visible arcing (sparks), the oven should be scheduled for removal. Please refer to the “WARNING” mention in the user manuals.
When putting a container in the oven, ensure it is approved for microwave use and rated for high temperatures. Please refer to the “CAUTION” mention in the user manual.
The Combi Oven has a special mode that combines both microwave and convection oven operations. Operators, be advised that the microwave always starts first. It is imperative that the trays are removed before operating the microwave.
Bombardier would like to remind you that operating the microwave while empty can result in damage to the unit or even cause a fire, as stated in the Combi Oven User Manual 18-M003, section 4.0, paragraph 4.1.
Should you have further questions about the Combi Oven, please contact Customer Support to speak with your local Bombardier Field Service Representative (FSR) or the Customer Response Centre (CRC).
