Belly quad camera forward lens cracked during landing

Effectivity: Global 7500 aircraft

ATA: 23

Some operators have recently reported that the high definition (HD) belly quad camera lens cracked after flight, mostly during the landing phase (see Figure 1). There is currently no possible flight dispatch disposition for this scenario.

To avoid affecting flight operation schedules, and because this is a Non-Essential for Flight (NEF) item, Bombardier has submitted a request to revise the current Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL).

Pending the future MMEL revision, Bombardier published a Temporary Repair Engineering Order (REO) 700-23-72-7002 with dispositions to keep flying with the damaged HD quad camera lens. This repair will allow the application of a protective speed tape over the damaged lens. This disposition will be valid for 50 flight cycles or three (3) months.

REO 700-23-72-7002 is downloadable from the Customer Portal.
