Bombardier would like to inform operators of a recent addition to the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) regarding the application of water-displacing Corrosion Preventive Compound (CPC).

Cor-ban® 23 compound was added to SRM 51-30-15, Protective Treatment of Structural Materials, at the Oct. 28, 2024 revision and includes instructions for application.

Corrosion Preventive Compounds displace moisture and form a hard flexible protective barrier film. The design intent is corrosion cycle interruption, thus preventing corrosion formation. The SRM application of CPC is used as supplementary corrosion protection, to enhance the existing corrosion protection systems on the aircraft.

Learjet Field Support Engineering has required application of Cor-ban® 23 in repair drawings and/or letters addressing centre wing corrosion and repair, while accomplishing Wings – Wing Spar Inspection Service Bulletin(s) SB40-57-6, SB45-57-13, SB70-57-02, SB75-57-01 and Chapter 5 IRN5710190.  Cor-ban® 23 is commercially available in aerosol spray cans or bulk.
