Learjet 40/45/70/75 Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Chapter 12-10-02 “Nose Landing Gear Shock Strut – Servicing” references a red band at the upper edge of the fork.
The nose gear shock strut inflation limits are checked by measuring the piston between the lower surface of the upper strut cylinder to the 0.25” wide painted red band at the upper surface of the tire axle fork. An illustration at the end of this AMM section depicts the location of the red band on the fork.
Learjet 40/45/70/75 AMM revisions, released Oct. 28, 2024, now have a step in 32-20-01 “Inspection of the Nose Gear Shock Strut for Wear” to ensure the red band is painted with gloss red topcoat. The Component Maintenance Manual 2342100 also added the instructions for repainting this red band if required.
Service Manuals (24, 24B/D/E/F and 25) and AMMs (25B/C/D/F, 28, 29, 31/31A, 35/36, 55, and 60) will add this information at the next revision release.
