Bombardier would like to remind Learjet 40/45 customers that they are eligible to install upgraded DU-875 LCD display units in their aircraft.

Honeywell Service Information Letter (SIL) D201510000020 informed operators that regular support of their original DU-870 CRT display unit was discontinued at the end of 2020. Honeywell has been repairing these units; however, the dwindling supply of replacement parts will soon be exhausted, rendering the DU-870 unrepairable.

There is a solution to prevent a possible grounding action due to failure of an obsolete DU-870 CRT display unit. Turbojet STC ST03873NY replaces the DU-870 CRT display units with the current production DU-875 LCD display units. This STC provides the option for replacement of an individual display unit or all four units at the same time.

Operators wishing to take advantage of the DU-875 display units’ enhanced capabilities can install Primus Elite Enhanced Features (PEEF). This is available for aircraft that have replaced all four displays and may be installed during that procedure via the same Turbojet STC, as shown above. PEEF enables features such as the display of Jeppesen charts and maps, XM graphical weather overlays and enhanced moving map display. All functions are controlled through a cursor control interface installed for PEEF.

The Primus Elite SmartView Synthetic Vision System (SVS) is available with the Primus Elite Advanced Features (PEAF) for customers who have previously or concurrently installed PEEF. Turbojet STC ST01976WI is available to enable the PEAF upgrade. In addition to SVS, PEAF provides TCAS overlay on the enhanced moving map display, and METAR (Aviation Routine Weather Reports) and TAFs (Terminal Area forecasts) are added to the available XM Weather Display selections.

Please contact your Bombardier Aviation Services Regional Manager to inquire about these as well as other alternatives.
