This article is meant to inform customers about options for upgrading exterior incandescent lights on Challenger 300 and 600 aircraft platforms to Light-Emitting Diode (LED) technology. Some exterior lights can now be replaced by LED lights for improved performance and reduced maintenance.

Based on the increased demand for alternatives to incandescent lighting, Bombardier has developed a plug-and-play solution of LED replacement for exterior incandescent lights.

Here is the list of exterior lights that can be replaced:

Challenger 3XX series:

Challenger 6XX series:

For now, customers should contact their Bombardier Regional Manager (RM) to add the new exterior LED lights to their maintenance package. A discount will be applied when all the lights are ordered and installed at a Bombardier Aircraft Service (BAS) facility.

In the future, LED lights will be made available via our Chicago parts warehouse, which would enable any light to be purchased individually, like other components. The Chicago parts availability is planned for Q2 2024.

All new LED lights are either Part Manufacturing Approval (PMA) or Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) parts.
