By: Jason Fortin – Service EngineeringThe Garmin Avionics suite currently has eight default crew profiles that are certified and selectable based on owner preference. Customers have inquired about obtaining a custom default crew profile based specifically on the preferences of the pilots operating the aircraft.
Bombardier Customer Support Engineering has created a path for operators to select and install a custom default crew profile that automatically boots up when the avionics suite is powered on. The default profile will eliminate the need to reload the personal profile settings at each power up cycle for the avionics suite. A list of 216 parameters has been identified that can be customized based on the operators’ preferences. Each custom Default Crew Profile will be Type Design certified for installation as part of the avionics suite. To start the request, email: AC.ICT@aero.bombardier.com, requesting a custom default profile. A Purchase Order (PO) will need to be provided at the time of the request. Once received, a Customer Support engineer will be in contact with the requestor to send out a document with the list of parameters that can be modified so the selections can be made. Once the selections are received, engineering will be created and a new part number will be assigned for that custom default profile. This can take up to two months as several documents need to be created and approved. Once approval has been granted, the customer will be notified of the part card number that needs to be ordered with Parts Services and the card will then be created. A minimal card fee will be charged for the card from Part Services upon ordering. After the order is placed, Customer Support Engineering will generate a letter detailing the approved installation path for the customer to install the custom default profile onto their aircraft.
