Since our last article in August, there have been some changes to regulatory agencies’ Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL) documentation for Bombardier Global series aircraft. Here, we provide an update as of early December 2023.
Global Express aircraft – BD-700-1A10 & BD-700-1A11 status:
The latest update is from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with the recently released revision 16 in October 2023. These changes seek to align the FAA MMEL with TCCA revision 8, including Temporary Revisions TR-20, TR-21, and dispatch relief for single channel DCU inoperative on Global 5000 GVFD and Global 6000.
Transport Canada (TCCA) released revision 8 in August 2022. The latest TR-23 introduced reliefs associated with the newer Enhanced Vision System (EVS) camera EVS-3600 and Combined Vision System (CVS) and amended associated existing reliefs.
TCCA is currently reviewing dispatch relief for single channel DCU inoperative for Global 5500 and Global 6500 aircraft as part of TR-24.
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) released revision 10 last August 2023
and incorporated changes associated with Transport Canada (TCCA) TR-20, 21 and 22. EASA is currently reviewing the intent of TCCA TR-23 for inclusion in its next revision 11. Subsequently, once approved by TCCA, the intent of TR-24 will be submitted to EASA for review.

Rev 10 – Published on Bombardier Customer Portal Aug. 10, 2023:
For details on the changes, refer to the MMEL record of revision section. To name a few, this revision included:
M to O items. Opportunities were identified for forty-five (45) procedures which may be performed by the flight crew (O) allowing additional flexibility for dispatch in remote locations where maintenance (M) may not be available. This would prevent having to dispatch on-site maintenance personnel to release the aircraft and allow continued operations. Most relate to procedures that require simple system deactivation. AFDX Network Port Lock addition
Display units extension from category B (3 days) to C (10 days)
Pearl engine TCCV FAULT CAS message relief (Global 5500/6500)
IFIS document reader function (Electronic reader function for AFM, QRH, etc.) extension from category C to D (120 days)
New relief for AFD/ DCU/cabinet fans, Aircraft Personality Module (APM)
Support of Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) Emergency Vision Assurance System (EVAS) (Cat D – 120 days)
Clerical correction to be consistent with the whole document and to be aligned with TCCA MMEL

The TCCA revision 4 released in May 2022 included changes to standardize the definitions used throughout the document, as well as modifying a few other items. The current Temporary Revision (TR-1) released last March 2023 is addressing Category II operation and Auto Flight Crew Altering Messages (CAS).
EASA revision 3 released May 2022 aligned with the TCCA MMEL revision 4.
FAA MMEL, revision 2 released June 2022, included modifications incorporated into the TCCA MMEL revision 4. The most notable revision was the modification of the Extended Range (ER) Operations diversion time limitations within the document.
