MMEL Status

Transport Canada (TC) has recently released a new version of the Global 7500 Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL). This new revision reflects Bombardier’s continuing effort to improve the availability of the Global 7500 fleet and is now available from the TC website. The current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) MMEL continues to be available on the FAA web sites, whereas the current European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) MMEL is available from Bombardier’s customer portal. This article highlights the major changes made to the TC MMEL. The MMELs are accessible through the Bombardier Customer Portal.

TC:
Rev 3 – Posted, August 27, 2021:

  • Reduced the quantity of flight time restrictions “from a suitable airport:”

    • Removed 28 of 53 “60 minute” restrictions

    • Extended 21 “60 minute” restrictions to “90 minutes”

    • Extended 4 “60 minute” restrictions to “180 minutes”

EASA:
Rev 1 – Published on Bombardier Customer Portal, September 2, 2020:

  • Introduction of several new items

  • Modification to “Extended Operations:”

    • Use of time limits in place of Extended Operations. Rev 1 MMEL modification uses “60 minutes” as an initial limitation

    • Reduced 164 instances of “Extended Operations” limits to 53 – “60 minute” limits

FAA:
Rev 1 – Posted, February 26, 2020:

  • Introduction of several new items

  • Modification to “Extended Range (ER) Operations:”

    • Use of time limits in place of ER Operations. Rev 2 MMEL modification uses “60 minutes” as an initial limitation

    • Reduced 132 instances of “ER Operations” limits to 43 – “60 minute” limits

Bombardier’s current objective is to perform the same time-limit reduction exercise for both the EASA and FAA MMELs. These EASA changes will be submitted to by the end of November 2021. Expect to see a new release of the EASA MMEL by the end of 2021 or by early 2022. The FAA changes are currently work in progress.

  • Added Global 5500/Global 6500 model designation. A table was added providing a cross-reference between the different effectivity restrictions

  • Dispatch relief for single DCU channel inoperative on Global 5000 GVFD & Global 6000, Global 5500 and Global 6500 planned for future MMEL update
