Modifications to galley light boxes

Effectivity: Global 6000 and Global 6500

ATA 25-30

Bombardier would like to inform maintenance crew and operators that modification drawings to improve the ventilation of the upper light and work light boxes in the galley are available in an engineering package (RAZ-BM700-238) free of charge via an SRPSA.

For the upper light, on some aircraft, the air temperature inside the light box was higher than expected because the hot air extraction holes were clogged by insolation bags touching the upper light box. For the work light, on some configurations, the vent hole was not efficient in extracting hot air. As a result, for both light boxes, after many cycles, this can cause light discoloration of the LED. Once the LED changes color, they lose their original brightness.

On the upper light box, the modification consists of adding spacers to push insolation bags on the top of the box to evacuate the heat. To do so, spacers are bonded after removing the LED strip.

On the work light box, the modification consists of increasing the size of the actual hole and adding a new hole, both of which are behind the galley touch screen. These holes will facilitate the evacuation of the heat generated by the LED.
