Multi‐function spoiler manual deployment

Effectivity: Global 7500 aircraft

ATA: 27

There have been reports of replacements of Global 7500 aircraft multi‐function spoilers (MFS) power control units (PCU) due to damaged manual release cams. Our review has revealed that the damage to the manual release cam is internal, induced by over-rotating the cam during a manual deployment of the MFS for maintenance.

The MFS PCU can be manually deployed for maintenance access or during the completion of an aircraft maintenance publication (AMP) task. When a manual deployment is required, the steps instruct to rotate the manual release cam to a maximum of 15 degrees clockwise.

Going beyond 15 degrees will damage the cam internally, preventing the manual deployment of the MFS surface. The PCU must then be removed and sent to an approved repair facility. In such a case, warranty coverage might be denied.
