NICE Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Obsolescence

For operators and maintenance personnel working on Challenger 300 aircraft equipped with the Lufthansa Technik (LHT) NICE CMS, we would like to inform you of an obsolescence on the LCD monitor Part number LCD2005-000-100. Although this obsolescence was shared with us in 2016 by LHT, the stock level and repair capability was adequate at the time to support the fleet. However, all Bombardier stock was depleted by late 2020 and LHT could no longer repair these units, as critical parts required for repairs were no longer produced.
LHT has advised us that the alternate LCD monitor LCD2013-001-001 can be installed, providing that the Configuration Server Database (CSDB) software is updated in accordance with the LHT Engineering Bulletin SCDC300-EB44-0679. This new cabin software will support both LCD2005 and LCD2013 installation. A Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) modification is required from Bombardier to cover the installation of the new LCD as updating the CSDB does not constitute an authority to install the alternate monitor LCD2013.
Bombardier has released an optional Service Bulletin (SB) to support the installation of the new LCD2013. The SB 100-44-07 will allow the interchangeability of the LCD2005 and LCD2013. Should you wish to incorporate this SB on your Challenger 300 aircraft to support the installation of a LCD2013-001-001, an SRPSA with a Purchase Order needs to be submitted to be added to the Controlled Effectivity Info Sheet of the SB 100-44-07 and to obtain the engineering and certification package. Pricing for the SB 100-44-07 is mentioned in the SB 100-00-04.
The CSDB required to support the new display needs to be ordered separately through Bombardier Part Services, by placing a free-of-charge Purchase Order (PO) requesting the following: “Need new CSDB software P/N SCDC300-XXXXX-Y, in accordance with the Lufthansa Technik Engineering Bulletin SCDC300-EB44-0679, to support the installation of the LCD monitor P/N LCD2013-001-001 on CL300 serial number 20XXX.” The software is provided free of charge by LHT only for aircraft that have ordered a LCD2013-001-001 as a replacement for LCD2005-100-00. Software cannot be ordered proactively.
