Optional adjustment to nosewheel steering harness connector

Effectivity: Learjet 40/45/70/75 aircraft

ATA Code: 32 - Landing Gear

By: TJ Will – Technical Services

The wiring harness in the nose wheel well of the Learjet 40/45/70/75 aircraft that connects to the nosewheel steering actuator is currently fabricated with a straight backshell. In some cases, the bend radius at the connector can be too tight, possibly damaging the wires at the end of the backshell.

To relieve the bend, Bombardier released Optional Service Bulletins (SB) 40-32-24, SB45-32-42, SB70-32-09, SB75-32-09 on Aug. 29, 2022. These SBs allow operators to replace the straight backshell with a 90° backshell on the harness, which relieves the bend at the interface with the actuator.

This replacement can be done without removing the harness from the aircraft.
