This article, previously published in 2019, has been updated with new information and recommendations.

Bombardier would like to inform pilots and operators about parts obsolescence on some Honeywell (formerly Baker) Cabin Management Systems (CMSs) that were installed prior to 2006 on Challenger 6XX and Global aircraft.

The following table lists the Service Information Letters (SILs) released for affected components:

The parts covered in each SIL are no longer produced due to the obsolescence of one or more major components.

The latest information from Honeywell is that they continue to service and support existing products. In the event of a non-repairable failure or inability to procure additional parts, Honeywell will provide details and return the unserviceable unit or remove it from service with associated costs billed to the customer.

If repair, replacement or upgrade is required, operators can proactively communicate with their Regional Sales Managers to identify their best customized solution and check parts availability.

Operators of Challenger 300, Challenger 6XX and Global aircraft equipped with a CMS from other suppliers, such as Audio International (AI), Pacific Systems and others, may find their equipment is not repairable due to parts obsolescence. These cabin parts were developed using outdated technology and most of their internal components may no longer be manufactured.

As a preventative best practice, Bombardier recommends surveying your CMS before the next aircraft downtime to determine if any components should be replaced or upgraded.

For more information about the obsolescence of Baker, Audio International, or other CMSs, please contact your Bombardier Field Service Representative (FSR) or the Customer Response Centre.
