Potable Water Treatment Unit (NPS-A6) Cartridge Recommended Replacement

Effectivity: Global XRS/5000GVFD/5500/6000/6500 aircraft

ATA Chapter 38

Bombardier would like to inform all maintenance crews that if an aircraft is experiencing a reduction of water pressure, it may be the result of a clogged filter.

When the activated carbon filter loses its effectiveness, it may cause malodorous smells as well as the taste of chlorine in addition to pressure reduction. In either case, the filter cartridge replacement is required. The vendor recommendation for the filter replacement is every 12 months, however, depending on the water quality and frequency of uses, the need for replacement can vary. Bombardier suggests that operators add a task in their Maintenance Planning Program to ensure proper preventative scheduled maintenance.
