*Reminder * Electronic Engine Controller (EEC) software upgrade X2.0

Effectivity: Global Express, Global 5000, Global XRS, GVFD 5000 and Global 6000 aircraft

This article is a reminder about the benefits of implementing Bombardier Service Bulletin (SB) 700-73-009; 700-1A11-73-005; 700-73-5002 and 700-73-6002 for the electronic engine controller (EEC) software upgrade X2.0.

This SB was released in 2016 and exhibited a good incorporation rate, but there are about 80 operators who have not yet performed this upgrade.

The new EEC software introduces the following functionality changes:

  • EEC Overheat status asymmetrical annunciation

  • Latching of turbine overheat indication

  • Improved low power surge recovery logic

  • Threshold change for P30 used in the acceleration detection logic

  • Improved bleed valve debounce logic for bleed valve control (NTO 174)

The implementation of this SB reduces crew actions following an APU start. Without this SB incorporated, an engine FADEC reset is required prior to engine start, as instructed in the Airplane Flight Manual (AFM).

The upgrade is done at the BAS facility by trained technicians through the external connectors of the EEC.

Operators who have not yet complied with the SB are encouraged to contact the Bombardier In-Service Implementation Team (ISIT) to book a time for implementation.
