Single Point Pressure Refueling (SPPR) Door
Effectivity: Learjet 40, Learjet 45, Learjet 70 and Learjet 75 aircraft
ATA 53
Bombardier would like to remind operators of the importance of ensuring the single point pressure refueling (SPPR) door is properly closed and latched prior to flight.
Service Bulletins 40-53-10, 45-53-36, 70-53-03 and 75-53-03, released in 2017, remove and replace the latch plates with a thinner design to provide better latching capabilities.
In several cases, the fuel cap has been found missing, indicating the cap was not installed before departure. If the cap is not properly installed, the door will not latch securely, allowing the door to come open during flight. It is possible to “stow” the cap in the SPPR cavity and close the door, however, the latches will not engage completely. Damage to the door, the door surround, and the stub fairing could occur if the door comes open. If the cap is not installed, damage to the fuselage could occur as well.
Incorporation of the above Service Bulletins, as well as thorough checks of the SPPR cap and door latches prior to flight, will reduce the possibility of SPPR door opening in flight.
