Sustainable Alternative Fuel (SAF) on Bombardier business aircraft

Effectivity: Challenger, Global series aircraft

ATA: 28

Customers and operators often ask Bombardier if they can use Sustainable Alternative Jet Fuel (SAJF), also known as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), on wide-body Bombardier business jets.

Bombardier would like to remind operators that all Challenger and Global series aircraft models are approved for use with SAJF/SAF meeting certain standard criteria.

When D7566 jet fuels (aviation turbine fuel containing synthesized hydrocarbons) are re-identified as D1655 fuel, they meet all the specification requirements of D1655 fuel. Therefore, this fuel meets the approved operating limitations for aircraft and engines certified to operate with D1655 and is consequently re-identified as Jet A, A−1 fuels.

Hence, SAJF/SAF are approved for use on Bombardier aircraft, provided the Aircraft Flight Manual/Flight Crew Operating Manual (AFM/FCOM) criteria are met.
