Toilet control cable adjustment can fix lavatory leaks

Effectivity: Challenger 300/350 aircraft

ATA: 38

By Sonia Gavrilidis - Technical Services

If an aircraft’s waste disposal tube is leaking or the toilet is losing fluid with no apparent leaks, the toilet control cable tension could be at fault (Figure 1).

For more information, reference Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) chapter 38-33-05.

If the toilet control cable is adjusted too tightly, it does not provide proper sealing because the valve is slightly unseated, causing a leak (Figure 2). The solution is an adjustment that minimizes the slack but does not completely remove it (Figure 3).

Adjustment instructions can be found in the Component Maintenance Manuel (CMM) 38-31-49, available on the Customer Portal under Smart Pubs Online Manuals.

If you have further technical questions, please contact your local Field Service Representative (FSR) or the Customer Response Centre (CRC) team 24/7.
