VENUE Cabin Management System (CMS) High Definition Audio Video (HDAV) Upgrade

Effectivity: Global Vision 5000 and Global Vision 6000 aircraft

ATA 44

As communicated through the Advisory Wire (AW) 700-44-0699 Revision 2, issued in August 2019, Collins Aerospace has released the recommended Vendor Service Bulletin (VSB) HDAV-6000-44-7 Revision 3, which upgrades each HDAV (Qty 3 per aircraft) to modstrike 7.

This hardware modification replaces the power supply capacitor and thus prevents intermittent HDAV failures on cabin power up. When this holdup capacitor condition occurs, it’s possible to recover the full functionality of the HDAV by resetting its associated Circuit Breaker (CB) from the Galley Touch Screen Equipment (GTSE) or the Cockpit Circuit Breaker Panel (CCBP). Refer to the AW for further details.

Some operators reportedly resolved the issue by doing a complete cabin power shutdown.

Since this HDAV modification affects the overall reliability and maintainability of VENUE CMS, Bombardier has issued a recommended Service Bulletin (SB) 700-44-5009 and 700-44-6009.

Based on Bombardier records, this current Advance Exchange campaign is not yet complete with a low participation rate. For this reason, we remind operators to plan the incorporation of the recommended SB 700-44-5009 (or 700-44-6009) for the next maintenance downtime.

As a reminder, this Service Bulletin is covered by a dedicated schedule. Dedicated schedules are used to reserve and manage inventory due to limited part. Therefore, advance part scheduling with our In−Service Implementation Team (ISIT) is required prior to a maintenance visit.

The overall reliability of the HDAV has significantly increased with the introduction of the HDAV Modstrike 7 fleet, however some units have been tested with No Fault Found (NFF). In order to prevent NFFs, maintenance teams should refer to the Bombardier Global HDAV Troubleshooting Aid created by Collins and applicable to aircraft GV5X00 and GV6X00.

In addition, technicians can also refer to VENUE CMS observed faults available in our SmartFixPlus web base troubleshooting tool. (Fig.1)
