Bombardier would like to inform operators and maintenance personnel that when the Global 7500 cargo door is opened during heavy rain, water dripping inside the APU battery compartment is normal and was considered during the design phase.
The LRUs in the APU battery compartment area are certified for the unpressurized and wet conditions (water drip, not direct spray) found in the belly fairing.
The belly fairing area is a wet area designed to evacuate accumulated water to the lowest points and through the drains. The openings in the cargo doorstep (shown below in red circles) are to be left open to allow water to drain away to the fairing area.
