Bombardier Global 7500 races to 100th speed record

The industry flagship Bombardier Global 7500 aircraft has bested all other aircraft in the ultra-long-range segment by achieving 100 speed records – and doing it faster than any other business jet in its class.

The Global 7500 set a blistering pace between city pairs such as Tokyo to San Francisco, London to Riyadh, Oakland to Tokyo, Hartford to Dubai, and Los Angeles to New York. The 100th speed record was achieved on a Feb. 28, 2025, flight between San Luis Obispo, California, and Bombardier’s London Biggin Hill Service Center in the U.K. The aircraft achieved the mission in nine hours and 17 minutes, averaging an impressive speed of almost 1,000 km/hr.

Other key achievements for the Global 7500 include the longest flight ever flown by a business aircraft: 8,225 nautical miles between Sydney, Australia, and Detroit, Michigan.

“Bombardier customers need a reliable, fast, efficient business tool that gets them to their destination quickly and efficiently, and the Global 7500 aircraft sets the standard in the ultra-long-range class for its outstanding technological advancements and exceptional performance capabilities,” said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice President, Aircraft Sales and Bombardier Defense.

With a top speed of Mach 0.925 and a baseline range of 7,700 nautical miles, the Global 7500 is the ultimate record-setting time machine. It is also a productive home office in the sky, with ultra-fast internet and customizable interior configuration options.

Bombardier customers can expect these performance attributes to be enhanced even more with the advent of the new Global 8000 aircraft, expected to enter into service in 2025. Existing Global 7500 customers can take advantage of a retrofit upgrade option that will enhance their aircraft’s top speed to Mach 0.94 and range of up to 8,000 nautical miles, while lowering its cabin altitude to 2,900 feet for increased passenger comfort.

“With our Global 8000 set to enter into service later this year, we can’t wait to build on our speed record momentum and take it to even higher levels across the fleet,” concluded Gallagher.
