Navigation lights and other exterior lighting on Global aircraft can now be upgraded to LED (light-emitting diode) technology for improved performance and reduced maintenance.
In 2014, Bombardier introduced optional Service Bulletins (SBs) that allowed the replacement of Global incandescent wing tip lights and tail navigation lights with LED fixtures. Those SBs can be found on the Customer Portal website under the following reference numbers:
Modification - Navigation Lighting - Replacement of the Halogen Navigation Lights with LED Units; 700-33-023, 700-1A11-33-008, 700-33-5001, 700-33-6001
Following the release of those SBs and based on the increased demand for alternatives to incandescent lighting, Bombardier has developed a plug-and-play LED replacement solution for selected Global exterior lights.
The following exterior lights can be replaced:
For now, customers should contact their Bombardier Regional Sales Manager (RSM) to add the new exterior LED lights to their maintenance package. Customers will qualify for a discount when all the lights are ordered and installed at a Bombardier Service Centre.
In the future, LEDs will be available via our Chicago parts warehouse, so any light can be purchased individually, like other components. LED lights will be available in Chicago by the end of 2022; watch for updates or contact your RSM.
The authority to replace the existing incandescent lights can be found on the Bombardier Customer Portal at the following location: Library – General Publication – Search for Alternate parts listing global aircraft. All new LED lights are either Part Manufacturing Approval (PMA) or Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) parts.
