Don’t forget the observer seat when you are planning regular maintenance on your Bombardier aircraft.

Since there are no Supplemental Maintenance Tasks for this seat, it’s important for all operators to plan regularly scheduled maintenance.

The information specified in this article covers the following CMM (M3223), which applies to the above-mentioned Global platforms:

  • Derlan Inc #1513000-1

  • ERDA Inc #1513000-1

  • Decrane aircraft #1513000-1 and -3

  • Goodrich #1513000, Manual number No. M3223

Below is a summary of regular maintenance procedures for the observer seat.:

Every 500 flight hours or annually (whichever occurs first):

  • Inspect seat-to-aircraft fittings for security, inspect restraint system attachments for security, check all bushings (seat backs, headrest, armrest, etc.) for excessive wear or looseness, and check all wear surfaces (slides) for excessive wear

  • If necessary, lubricate (e.g., dry silicone SRM or SPM reference) frame pivot points, latches and hinges, which will ensure trouble-free operation

Groom as required or annually:

  • Clean the upholstered surfaces using upholstery cleaner (as per the grooming guide) and a vacuum cleaner

  • Clean the non-upholstered surfaces using lint-free cloths and a mild soap solution; wipe dry, using clean lint-free cloths

  • Clean the metal components using a lint-free cloth. Wipe dirt, oil, grease and contamination from the chair component. If necessary, moisten the cloth with a solvent such as isopropyl alcohol. Air dry

  • Clean surfaces made of composite materials with a clean, lint-free cloth and a mild soap solution. Wipe dry with a clean, lint-free cloth
