Do you have the latest Bombardier Cabin Control app for your Global aircraft equipped with the Collins VENUE cabin management system (CMS)?

Version 2.2.17 was released on Jan. 10, 2023 on the Apple Store. Bombardier recommends that operators and maintenance personnel working on Global aircraft number 9709 and later download and install this updated version.

Version 2.2.17 addresses a major issue identified in the previous release, where end-users had to re-enter the Galley Backup password at any time when launching the galley mode feature (Galley Backup Mode).
Collins Aerospace addressed these issues reported from the field:

  • Fixed authentication issue that caused the user to re-enter the protected context password every time it was entered

  • Fixed destination selection screen output buttons to ensure selected state is displayed when the buttons are pressed

  • Fixed "Clear Authentication" functionality. When this control is selected on the Galley Touch Screen Equipment (GTSE), the app will remove clients from authenticated contexts

  • Fixed issue where floorplan graphic was not correctly displayed after a "clean restart."

  • Fixed colouring of header and footer to ensure it matches the app colour scheme

Aircrew, flight attendants and maintenance personnel should be aware that, additionally to the GTSE, when using the Galley Backup Mode, most of the cabin systems can also be controlled using Apple or Android compatible tablets (refer to Fig. 1):

  • Briefings, flight info and do-not-disturb (DND) setup

  • Circuit breaker, LRU BIT status and service messages

  • Connectivity and media systems

  • Cabin lighting, shades and cabin temperature

  • Appliances

  • Water and waste systems

The Bombardier Cabin Control app includes the Galley Backup Mode, which can be used as additional or backup GTSE (Fig 1).

The Galley Backup Mode is password protected and matches with the name of the feature: Galley[space]Backup (Fig. 2
and 3).

Multiple end-users may use the Galley Backup Mode at the same time. Indeed, more than one aircrew or passenger may control the cabin, and commands are processed by VENUE CMS in the order they are received.
